La Salle dominates 3A meet with 2nd straight title

Explorers defend their crown in style

Bringing a climactic finish to a season like no other, the La Salle College High School boys swimming and diving team reached out and grabbed its second straight state title and seventh in the past 10 years on Saturday, in an overwhelmi­ng performanc­e at Cumberland Valley High School.

In an evening filled with gold medals and fast times, La Salle compiled 309 points, topping the 162 by second-place Emmaus.

La Salle’s 200-yard medley relay got the evening started, as a team of Paul Brosky, Gavin

Brooke, Tim Grossi and Quinn Buck finished in 1 minute, 33.45 seconds to claim the bronze medal.

In the very next event, Zachary Kohm raced to the silver in the 200 free (1:36.63) for the Explorers and the points were beginning to pile up.

Brosky and Connor Goodyear placed third and fourth for La Salle in the 200 IM, with impressive times of 1:51.21 and 1:52.24.

Buck came through with a gold-medal performanc­e in the 50 free, winning the state title with a time of 20.29.

Grossi also made a trip to the medal stand soon after, seizing the silver medal in the 100 fly in 49.33.

Another gold medal for La Salle came in the 500 free, with Kohm racing to a winning time of 4:24.84 in the 500 freestyle.

La Salle also got fourth-place finishes from Goodyear in the 500 free (4:33.26) and Harry Hearn in the 200 free (1:39.98).

The Explorers provided a grand finale with the 400 free relay, winning another gold with a foursome of Buck, Goodyear, Hearn ad Kohm finishing in 3:02.87.
