Trail Talk and Cleanup in Reading on May 14
The Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area is inviting people to a special two events in one activity on May 14. The first event will be a walk and talk on the Schuylkill River Trail with State Rep. Manny Guzman at 10 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to speak directly with Guzman and use the trail section known as the Reading Gateway. Several improvements have been made along the trail including vegetation removal, trail resurfacing, landscaping, and the installation of surveillance cameras. The second event will be a trail cleanup beginning at 10:30 a.m. to pick up litter along the trail. Schuylkill River Greenways will provide trash bags and gloves, as well as light refreshments. Trail Public Outreach Meeting in Reading on May 21
There will be a public meeting about the Schuylkill River Trail on May 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Schmidt Training and Technology Center of the Reading Area Community College. The address is 10 S. 2nd Street.
The meeting is part of a feasibility study to determine the best way to fill in the Schuylkill River Trail gap between Reading and Hamburg. Schuylkill River Greenways is inviting people to share their comments and questions about the trail through public meetings and a trail survey. River Trail. The regional recreation outfitter will provide services to the community from a storefront made of shipping containers. Take It Outdoors services include kayak and canoe rentals, shuttling services, a free bike share, group events, guided trips, and educational programming. The recreational company will celebrate its move to Pottstown with a grand opening and ribboncutting ceremony on May 21 at 7:45p.m. The address of the park is 140College Drive in Pottstown.
