Jeptha Abbott DAR installs new board members, honors veterans at luncheon
ARDMORE » The Ardmorebased Jeptha Abbott Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) held its June luncheon at the Gulph Mills Golf Club, King of Prussia. The following 2022-2025 Jeptha Abbott DAR board members were installed during the event: Regent Teri Fischer (Stone Harbor, NJ, formerly of Wayne); First Vice Regent Amanda Quinn (Berwyn); Second Vice Regent Karen Franks Zetterberg (Bryn Maw); Chaplain Lisa Gresh (Paoli); Recording Secretary Martha Parker (Phoenixville); Corresponding Secretary Michelle Bradley (Wayne); Treasurer Heather Condello (Conshohocken); Registrar Jacqui North (Strafford); Historian Becky Guenther (Gladwyne); and Librarian Cordelia Ochis (Wayne).
Money raised at the event goes towards the Pennsylvania Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) State Project and the America 250! Marker for Old Eagle School Cemetery, Wayne, which will be dedicated in the fall. William Gresh, President of the Pennsylvania State Society Children of the American Revolution (P.A.C.A.R.), was at the luncheon to raise awareness about the C.A.R. state project, “A Home For History’s Heroes.” The project supports our military heroes — past, present, and future.
For the past, C.A.R. will be working to purchase historically-accurate trees for General Anthony Wayne House Museum’s planned arboretum. The General Anthony Wayne House, located in Paoli and built in 1724, was the home of American Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne. It is now owned by Easttown Township and administered by the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks.
For the present and future, the C.A.R. is working with the Veterans MultiService Center, 213-217 N. 4th Street, Philadelphia to aid homeless veterans by raising funds for the computer center at their housing project called Edison 64 Veterans Community. Located on the former site of Edison High School, 700 West Somerset Street, Philadelphia, the project pays tribute to those who committed their lives to serve our country and honors those who came from this high school. Edison High School experienced the loss of more students to casualties in the Vietnam War than any other school in America. If you want more information on C.A.R., please visit penncar.org.
