Book club meetings slated

- MEGAN BRYANT Pea Ridge Librarian

Greetings my dear Pea Ridge friends,

First things first, my apologies for missing you all last week. Besides reorganizing our children’s area, which was a huge undertaking but well worth the work, we have been in a state of waiting. Therefore, I wasn’t sure what to divulge to you. If you remember the severe water damage that sadly occurred, we have been patiently waiting for the insurance adjuster to give us information so that we can move forward. Things seem to be at a bit of a stand still. That’s okay though; we will survive and push forward!

If you haven’t come in and received my almost pleading speech to join our Friends of the Library group, you should. Alex and Katie, my sweet librarians, often laugh at me. The very first meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24. This group coming together is very important for our library. This first order of business will be to apply for a 501c3. This will enable me to apply for grants, have authors come visit and have book signings and have some grand fundraising events. Please come join us, find out more information and help our library grow!

Now for some fantastic book club news:

• Sixth grade will meet at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7. We will turn in and discuss “Life of Pi” and pick up “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.”

• Seventh and eighth grades will meet at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8. We will turn in and discuss “Green” and pick up “So Not Happening.”
