OCEANSIDE - Gregory Jennings Martin, aged 73 years, passed away peacefully at his home in Oceanside, CA on May 25, 2023.

Greg was the first child born to William W. Martin and Betty Louise Chubb Martin on February 26, 1950, in Topeka, KS. He attended Topeka Public Schools, graduating from Wentworth Military Academy which he attended his senior year. Greg then attended Colby Community College in Colby, KS and Spartan Aviation in Tulsa, OK, studying aviation, which he loved, ultimately achieving his multi-engine commercial license with instrument rating. He also studied Business Administra­tion at Washburn University in Topeka, KS.

Greg returned to Topeka to work for 32 years at his family-owned business, Martin Tractor Company, a Caterpilla­r dealership, where he eventually became an owner and Executive Vice President.

After leaving Martin Tractor Company, Greg spent the next 13 years on the island of St Maarten. He returned to the United States in late 2009, originally making San Diego his home before moving to Oceanside, CA.

Greg married Joyce Hudson in 1981, they were subsequent­ly divorced. He is survived by their two children, Crystal Martin Glenn and Scott Hudson Martin, two grandchild­ren, his sisters Janet Martin McKinney (Kent) of Kerrville, TX, and Judy Martin Knoll (Dick) of Topeka, KS, and numerous cousins.

The family sends a special thank you to Greg’s cousin, Martin Blair and his wife Cindy, who were so supportive of Greg.

No services are planned.

As Greg was a charter member of the Board of Directors of Topeka Crime Stoppers, the family suggests memorial contributi­ons be made to Shawnee County Crime Stoppers, 320 S Kansas Ave STE 100, Topeka, KS 66603.
