HOLTON - Kenneth L. Farmer, 95, of Holton, KS. passed away at Vintage Park in Holton on March 23, 2024. He was born August 20, 1928, the only child of James L. Farmer and Katie G. (Shupe) Farmer. He was raised on a farm near Circlevill­e, KS. He attended Circlevill­e Grade School and graduated from Circlevill­e High School in 1946.

Kenny served in the US Army as a Medic during the Korean War, stationed in Ohm, Germany, from 1951 to 1953. He worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Topeka from 1953 to 1985. From 1960 to 1985 he was also a substitute rural mail carrier in the Circlevill­e area and beginning in 1985 he became a full-time rural mail carrier out of the Holton Post Office until he retired in 1992.

He was member of the United Steelworke­rs Union 307, National Rural Letter Carriers Associatio­n, American Legion Post 44, and VFW Post 1367. He was also a member of the First Christian Church in Holton.

Kenny married Norma Jean Hundley on November 26, 1953. To this union were born two children, daughter Kathryn Jean Farmer and son Michael James Farmer.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Mike) Laird, Topeka, KS and son, Michael (Kendra) Farmer, Southlake, TX. He is also survived by his grandchild­ren, Travis (Ashley) Rieschick, Jordan (Carolyn) Farmer, Aaron Rieschick, Bailey (Anthony) Custable, Keaton Farmer, and great-grandson, Bennett Farmer.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials go to either the Holton Christian Church or the Holton Hospital Health & Hospice.
