Tariq Chandler Harris, 25, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2016 in Willingboro, New Jersey at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County. Affectionately known as “Riq,” he was surrounded by all members of his immediate family.

Tariq was born on November 13, 1990 in Trenton, NJ to Travis Jones and James Harris. A lifelong Ewing resident, Tariq attended the Ewing Public Schools and graduated from Ewing High School as a member of the class of 2009. He also received college credits from Mercer County Community College.

At 6’0 tall, Tariq stood out in a crowd, but his style made him unique. He loved his Ralph Lauren (no knock-offs for Riq), matching shoes, and signature hat. A fan of basketball, his team was the Oklahoma City Thunder. Music, movies, traveling, candy, and photography were also things he had a passion for, snapping photos of himself and the guys for social media.

Tariq was all about his family and friends. He spent most of his time with his brother and his boys, “The Ave”: best friends since childhood. On Sunday’s, he would look forward to Sunday dinners with family, usually requesting fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and a lot of juice. He loved his nieces and nephews, whether it was taking Taj under his wing, playing video games with Taih, or telling people Ava was his daughter. Tannis and Teagan enjoyed arguing over who his favorite niece was; they had a special sense of humor. Tariq’s smile could light up a room and got him just about anything he wanted. He was a sweet, humble and respectful young man. Tariq loved life and laughter, and if you knew him, you loved him.
