U.S. Open Bus Trip: PEAC Health & Fitness will offer its annual bus trip to the tennis U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, NY on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Tickets are on sale now. Church of St. George, Titusville: The Church of Saint George, Titusville, NJ will observe World Day of Prayer for Creation with prayer, an outdoor procession, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and an exhibit of parishioners’ images of creation. The observance is the parish response to Pope Francis’ declaration of September 1, 2016 as The Annual World Day of Prayer for Creation. Prayer will begin with Mass at 7:30 a.m. and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until noon. New Hope Juried Arts & Crafts Festival: The New Hope Arts & Crafts Festival and Bucks County Playhouse announce the 23rd New Hope Juried Outdoor Arts & Crafts Festival scheduled for the weekend of September 24 and 25, 2016. Newtown Theatre: The nonprofit Newtown Theatre, the country’s oldest operating movie theatre, will hold its first-ever Black & White Dinner on Saturday, September 24. The fundraiser will take place on the street outside the historic building located at 120 North State St., Newtown, PA, between 6:30 and 10 p.m. Here is how the night works: Guests are asked to dress only in black and white and bring everything they need for an elegant dinner under the stars, including a picnic dinner, tables, chairs, and black and white décor. Veterans Food Drive: Mercer County Veteran Services conducts its annual donation drive to help veterans and their families enjoy the comforts of a hot meal on each holiday. Rather than collecting donations of food, Mercer County’s Division of Veteran Services accepts monetary donations throughout the year that go toward the purchase of ShopRite gift cards veterans can use to purchase holiday meals year-round. Veterans will receive those gift cards in time for holiday meal preparations. Mercer County Veteran Services uses every dollar collected during the drive to purchase and distribute the ShopRite gift cards for food products. Friends of Burlington County Library: The Friends of the Library will hold used book and media sale at the Burlington County Library in Westampton from September 8 to September 11 featuring more than 7,500 books organized by category, as well as DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and more. All proceeds benefit Burlington County Library programming, such as the Summer Reading Programs and the Museum Pass Program. CASA: Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Mercer County is currently seeking new volunteers. CASA is a non-profit organization that recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who speak up in Family Court for the best interests of children that have been removed from their families due to abuse and/or neglect and placed in the foster care system. Kidsbridge Tolerance Museum: The Kidsbridge Tolerance Museum is the only youth-focused tolerance museum in the nation. Children and youth have fun while learning strategies relating to empathy, diversity appreciation and bullying prevention. Kidsbridge is looking for adult volunteers to interact with kids. No experience necessary. All volunteers will be trained. Sessions take place between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Volunteers may work partial sessions and participate as often or as little as they prefer.
