BORDENTOWN TWP. >> Township Police said that they arrested Edward Heaton, 29, of Bordentown for a burglary.

Police said that the burglary occurred on Friday morning. Police say a Ward Avenue resident called at 9:36 a.m and said that he had just returned home from running an errand and discovered that his residence had been broken into.

Police said the suspect, identified as Heaton, made entry to the home through a rear window and stole $32,000 in property from the residence including electronics, jewelry and a hover board.

Police searched the area for witnesses and potential suspects and observed Edward Heaton in the area of Building 3 of the Southgate Apartments. Police said that they stopped Heaton and determined that he was responsible for the burglary.

Police said that the victim’s property was then recovered from Heaton’s residence, a dumpster at the apartment complex and in a wooded area next to the complex.

He was charged with burglary and theft and lodged to the Burlington County Jail in default of $20,000 bail.

Police said this is the second daytime residential burglary committed there within the last week. Police said that the other incident was reported to police on Sept. 14 and it occurred on Dunns Mill Road. That burglary remains under investigation.

Heaton is not considered a suspect in the Sept. 14 burglary at this time.
