Robert (Red) James Delany Sr. of Milmay, NJ
Bob left this world on September 24, 2016, at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, NJ with his loving family at his side following a brave and private battle with lung cancer.
Born in Trenton, NJ, Bob spent most of his life in Yardley, PA. He was the premier welder at Princeton University’s Plasma Physics lab for 47 years. He loved his job and took great pride in every project he was assigned to.
After retiring from Princeton University in 2009 he moved to Milmay, NJ to live in the Pinelands and fulfill his dream of being a rancher. His love and knowledge of animals was well known by friends and family alike and South Jersey was the place for him. He never ceased to be amazed at the sight of a deer, a horse, a wild turkey or a bald eagle. Each and every time he saw one, it brought him joy. The mammals, the reptiles, he couldn’t get enough of them. It wasn’t unusual to see him pull his truck over and get out to help a turtle across the road. He tried his hand at raising sheep and guinea hens among other ventures.
Bob is predeceased by his daughter and angel, Deborah Delany; his parents Marie (Francis) Delany and Robert Delany and his best friend for 17 years, his Springer Spaniel, Allie Delany.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 20 years Maureen Corbett Delany; stepdaughter Briana Piserchia; granddaughter and partner in crime Adrianna Piserchia and grandson Henry (“partner”) Perez, Jr. of Westampton, New Jersey.
He is also survived by his son Robert J. Delany, Jr. (Terri) of Arkansas; daughter Kelly Stingel; their mother Oriann Delany; grandson Ryan Stingel and granddaughter Kaitlyn Stingel; sister Kathy Amari (Charles) all of Ewing NJ.
Also left behind are his very special Aunt Margaret and Uncle John Estok of Morrisville, PA; a sister-in-law and confidant, Shirley Corbett of Manahawkin NJ; and three brothersinlaw Michael, Bob and Patrick Corbett.
A Memorial Service will be private at the convenience of the family.
