Parents can take advantage of Allies’ 2 new adolescent programs

- Advertorial

Allies recognizes that one of the greatest challenges of a parent raising a child with intellectual, emotional and behavioral challenges is feeling powerless when providing intervention and care. Parents often struggle with accessing services that improve the outcome of a child’s life and improve family dynamics.

Allies is spreading the word that there are answers, support and solutions; parents should not be alone on this journey.

Allies offers two youth programs dedicated to addressing the behavioral, emotional and mental health needs of adolescents with intellectual and emotional challenges.

Through a partnership with The New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF), Allies has implemented a continuum of services to ensure access and success for adolescents. The Feather Lane Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) is our five-bed, coed out-of-home (OOH) treatment program.

Adolescents enrolled in the (IRTS) program, receive 24-hour supervision and support from residential counselors who assist in developing life and social skills, as well as a variety of therapeutic services from a team of licensed, experienced medical, behavioral and mental health professionals. Treatment plans are developed and treatment team meetings occur regularly, striving to actively involve the adolescent, their parents/guardians, case managers, educators and anyone else identified as crucial. This ensures that proper supports are in place for the adolescent to successfully complete the program and gain the skills needed to resume their successful journey into adulthood.

Our behavioral health and mental health services and interventions for youth in The Feather Lane IRTS program include the following:

• Individual, group and family psychotherapy

• Family education for Community Re-stabilization

• Psychiatric consultation • Music therapy • Equine therapy • Milieu therapy • Behavioral Analysis and formation of Behavioral Support Plans

• Medication evaluation and education • Nursing services In addition to the Feather Lane IRTS program, Allies offers Intensive In-Home (IIH) services. This program is a culmination of a partnership with The New Jersey Department of Children and Families; and addresses the adolescent’s treatment needs, to be provided at their home in their community. This service assists the adolescent and their family in developing the skills necessary to avoid hospitalization or placement in an out-ofhome treatment program.

The mission of the OOH and IIH treatment programs is to assist the adolescent with successful reunification and inclusion with their family while fostering growth as an individual.
