Fake Gun Robbery: Keenan Kparway, 23, and Damien Torres, 23, were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly used a fake gun to rob a man who needed a ride. A 52-year-old man told police he was walking near the intersection of Beatty and Tremont streets around 1:20 p.m. when two men pulled up in a Lexus and offered him a ride. The man accepted the offer, officials say, and during the drive, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim’s cash. The victim handed over $97 in cash and then exited the car. The suspects then fled in the vehicle, but were later spotted by Detectives Daniel Simpkins and Eliezer Ramos from the Violent Crimes Unit. Officials say the detectives saw the car around 3p.m. and stopped it at gunpoint near the intersection of Route 129 and Hamilton Avenue. During the arrests, police recovered an airsoft gun. Police say the cash was gone and officials believe Kparway and Torres spent the money within the hour and a half it took for police to find them. Gun and Pot: Jireh Mathis, 20, JohnQuil McRae, 19, Arthur Lewis, 23, and a 16-year-old city male were arrested Tuesday after police allegedly found a marijuana blunt, two additional grams of pot and a loaded 9mm handgun in a car they occupied on Laurel Place. Officials say detectives from the Street Crimes Unit saw the group in a parked car, and then smelled marijuana as

they approached to investigate. Police say the gun contained hollow-point bullets, and that it was lying on the floor behind the driver’s seat. Police also seized $2,066in cash as suspected proceeds from drug sales.

SWAT Raid: Frederick Hostick, 33, was arrested New Year’s Eve after someone

reported a hostage was being held inside a city home, prompting a raid that uncovered a gun and drugs. Officials say detectives from the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force received information regarding a hostage inside a Sanford Street home. TPD’s SWAT and detectives from the prosecutor’s office then raided the home and found marijuana lying in plain sight, but no hostage was being held inside the house. Police then obtained a search warrant and later found a loaded 9mm handgun, 44grams of crack cocaine and six bricks of heroin, which officials say all belonged to Hostick. Police also seized $490in cash as suspected proceeds from drug sales. Heroin and Pot: Lamont Williams, 38, was arrested Tuesday night after police allegedly found him in possession of 20decks of heroin, two bags of marijuana and $129in cash, which was seized as suspect drug proceeds. Officials say detectives from the Street Crimes Unit saw Williams huddled with a woman when they responded to the 500 block of Lamberton Street to investigate a reported shooting. The woman managed to flee when they saw cops, but Williams was detained after he allegedly tossed the drugs onto the ground.
