I run a website about Trenton Mercer Airport. The site is not affiliated with the county, the airport, or any of the airlines that fly to TTN. I was wondering if I might be able to answer user Frequent Flyer’s question based what I know from following airport news.

As far as the new terminal goes that will likely come in the next 2 or 3 years. They had a first meeting regarding a terminal that is 4 times the size of the current terminal including space for up to 5 rental car companies.A second meeting will likely occur after the FAA reviews thoroughly the plan. You can thank this delay on Holly Bussey and her NIMBY group BRRAM (Bucks Residents for Responsible Airport Management). Her group (as well as Bussey individually) are suing the FAA for their lack of environmental reviews BRRAM and other groups like it ran Southwest out of town in the late 2000s when Mercer County wanted to build a new terminal and Southwest wanted to start service. The terminal is planned to be built on the site of the old GM plant which is on the other side of the airport grounds. This terminal however will be fought in any way possible by this group. Supporters of the group have already written letters opposing the plan which include incorrect references to the name of the airline (calling Frontier, Spirit Airlines) and other IMO unprofessional language.

According to the Mercer County procurement site, plans for doubling the size of the current baggage building and a canopy to protect from rain and snow will be built from the front of the baggage building to the front of the terminal. Its likely that a traffic light will not be installed at the corner of Bear Tavern Road and Sam Weinroth rd (the airport access road) because of the plans for the new terminal which will likely not involve that intercection. Outbound traffic is currently directed to the Scotch Road exit. — Jason Thompson, Webmaster trentonairportinfo.com Thanks, Jason! That’s really helpful. — Ed Note
