A NEW BEGINNING

Ash jokes that he no longer has to ask, “Who’s 52?” on the practice field like he might’ve as a first-year head coach last March.

The staff is fully aware of players’ strengths and weaknesses, and a full year of player development following a 2-10 season is paying dividends, Ash insists.

“When you watch them put on the helmets and get the balls up and go practice like we did today, they practiced a lot faster,” Ash said. “There’s not a lot of questions. We’re not coaching little things like alignments and stances as much as we were a year ago.
