John J. Kraft
John J. Kraft, a retired operations manager for Entergy, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center in New York. He was 67.
The son of the late Muriel R. Booth and John J. Kraft, Sr., he was born on August 8, 1949 in Bay Shore, NY. John attended Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA, where he studied chemistry. He married Barbara Jansen at St. Gregory the Great Church in Hamilton Square, NJ and they celebrated 41 years of marriage. John served in the US Navy aboard the USS Nautilus and was employed by the New York Power Authority upon his discharge. John’s charitable efforts included serving as a team leader in the Gregorian Youth Ministry of St. Gregory the Great Church repairing homes for disadvantaged residents in Appalachia. He was a member of the Deborah Foundation and the Gallon Club of the American Red Cross. Together with his wife, John trained dogs in the Guiding Eyes for the Blind program. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed antique cars, water sports and music.
John was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Karen Kaminsky. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sister, Debra Kraft of Jensen Beach, FL; his brother, Robert Kraft of Lake Worth, FL; two aunts, Lois Kohlhepp of TX and Brenda Gumbrecht of FL. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to participate in a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the chapel of St. Gregory the Great Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Interment and a repast will immediately follow the mass.
Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
