Gloria Jean (McRae) Starr, nee Schank, was born on August 19, 1929 in Trenton, NJ. She departed this life on April 22, 2017 at the age of 87 surrounded by loved ones at home. Gloria was a lifelong resident of Trenton and graduated from Trenton Central High School.

Gloria was predecease­d in death by her mother Alberta Schank, her adoptive parents Adeliade and Anderson McRae. Five sisters and 3 brothers: Josephine Glover; Annabelle Atkins, Estelle Hall, Alberta Hall, Gladys Wilson, Elwood Schank, Beryl Hall and Walter Hall and longtime friend and companion Bill Denson.

She is survived by one sister; Edith Hall and nine children: Jacqueline Rawls, Barbara Starr, Nancy Drew, Jacob Starr, Jr., Andrea Dix, Janice Starr, Carolyn Starr, Terri Jenkins and Dawn Turner. She is also survived by 27 grandchild­ren and 21 great grandchild­ren. Gloria was employed by Pacific Cleaners for 17 years and later worked for Dept. of Education, State of NJ for 22 years before retiring. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church in 1994 where she served as a Missionary. She became a member of Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in 2015 where she remained until God called her Home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Fri April 28, 2017 at Friendship Baptist Church, 111 Perry St., Trenton, NJ. Calling hour will be 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Entombment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ. Arrangemen­ts are made by the Hughes Funeral Home.
