Taste Trenton thanks the community
On behalf of the Trenton Council of Civic Associations, I wish to thank the 25 restaurants that participated in the weekend’s third annual Taste Trenton restaurant crawl. We have received near unanimous accolades by the “food tourists” who visited restaurants in downtown Trenton and in Chambersburg. “I never would have known about this restaurant had it not been on the tour,” “The food was amazing.” And “I’m coming back!” were the consistent messages we’ve received.
Of course, I thank those 275 individuals who joined the tour across the three days. Many of them spent part of each day trying out new places and old favorites. I am gratified to them for braving a drizzly Saturday and hope that the beautiful Sunday weather partially made up for the rain.
In addition, I want to acknowledge the 2017 Taste Trenton sponsors including NJM Insurance Group, Capital Health, Back on the Road for Less, City Beef, Cadwalader Place Civic Association, the 1719 William Trent House Museum, Karl Wiedel, Inc., and the New Jersey 15h District Delegation for their critical support.
I also thank the City of Trenton’s Department of Health and Human Service which provided buses for our guests on Saturday, The Trenton Downtown Association who provided much needed moral and support and guidance at critical moments and help recruit downtown restaurants, Greater Trenton who stepped up when Taste Trenton needed a place for guests to purchase wristbands before the event, and to Lauren Otis and the entire ArtWorks team who provided me a “base of operations” during the event. Local media coverage is very much appreciated as well!
Finally, several individuals were truly instrumental in making Taste Trenton a reality. First, Corin Garcia and Doreen Wilson, worked tirelessly to recruit restaurants and promote the event throughout the city. Without their efforts, Taste Trenton would have had just a few locations on its list! Second, Iana Dikidjieva put together the Taste Trenton program book overnight in time to meet our printing deadline. Third, my sincere appreciation to fellow TCCA board members— Rachel Cogsville-Lattimer, Chester Jones, Ray Ingham, and Mikko Green— who help plan and execute this event.
Thank you all! — Bernard J. McMullan, Coordinator, Taste Trenton
