R’ville finishes No. 1 in area rankings
And the envelope, please. Actually the naming of the No. 1 team in this year’s Trentonian Area Softball Ratings was pretty much a forgone conclusion after Robbinsville was the only area team to capture a state title.
Also this year’s Mercer County Tournament champion for the second straight season, Robbinsville has finished on top of our ratings that includes over 50 teams for the third time.
In what is definitely a first, the top-four teams were all from Mercer County. Right behind Robbinsville are Group III state runner-up Steinert, South Jersey Parochial A semifinalist Notre Dame and Central Jersey Group III finalist Ewing.
Rancocas Valley, which won three tournaments this year, sits in the fifth spot. while a Northern Burlington team loaded with talented freshmen checks in at sixth. Rounding out the top 10 are SONL champion Neshaminy, PIAA Class AAAAAA state quarterfinalist Council Rock North, C.J. Group II finalist Bordentown and Cherokee.
