Ronald Herrera already got a small taste of the big leagues, and after picking up another victory in his return to the Thunder rotation, he was promoted to Triple-A on Saturday.

Herrera has dominated Double-A since beginning his season on April 30 after a brief stay on the disabled list. The 22-year-old right-hander posted an 8-0 mark with 1.13 ERA and 0.82 WHIP in nine starts. He has 42 strikeouts against 12 walks in 56 innings.

In his start against Altoona on Wednesday, Herrera logged 5.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits.

Acquired in a trade from the Padres for Jose Pirela in November of 2015, Herrera made his major league debut earlier this month, pitching two innings for the Yankees in a 7-5 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

While Herrera moved up, Domingo Acevedo came back to the Thunder following a start on Wednesday from Scranton.

Acevedo lost that decision, allowing five runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings.

Still, the 6-foot-7 right-hander, has impressed since moving up the system with a promotion to the Thunder on May 18.

He slumped to an 0-4 record with a 4.57 ERA in seven starts at High-A Tampa, but the bump up a level has brought out the best in the 23-yearold.

Acevedo is 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA and 31 strikeouts (just three walks) in 33.1 innings for the Thunder.

Both of those moves were part of a flurry of activity for the Yankees on Saturday.

The team designated first baseman Chris Carter for assignment and recalled Tyler Austin from Scranton. The Yanks also optioned Jacoby Ellsbury (concussion) to Scranton for a rehab assignment.

Austin started his season with a five-game rehab sting in Trenton, and settled in with the RailRiders, posting a .300/.366/.560 slash with four homers and 21 RBIs in 27 games.

Austin, 25, played 31 times for the Yankees last summer, batting .241 with five homers and 12 RBIs.

The Thunder played the middle contest of a three-game set at Reading on Saturday night.
