Bordentown Post 26 blasts Princeton

BORDENTOWN » Cody Schroeder and Paul Woodley each had two hits, two runs batted in and a run scored to pace the Bordentown Post 26 baseball team’s 10-0 win over Princeton Post 218 in the first game of a Mercer County American Legion League doublehead­er Saturday at Gilder Field.

Alex Popovich also had two hits to go with two runs and an RBI for Post 26.

Steve Ryaba went all five innings to gain the win on the mound, scattering three hits, striking out five and walking just one.

Zach Dudeck, Chris Sumners and Ian Franzoni had the only hits (all singles) for Post 218.

In the second game, Princeton took the lead after one inning only to see Bordentown score 10 runs in the second on the way to a 20-3 win in five innings.

Popovich and Kyle Forcini knocked in three runs apiece for Post 26, while Popovich and Cody Schroeder each had three hits. Two of Popovich’s hits were doubles.

Teddy Durbin went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Post 218.
