Attempted Murder: Omar Davis, 43, and Quasim Hallett, 36, were arrested Monday in connection with a daylight shooting that happened Saturday. Officials say Davis and Hallett were identified as the suspects involved in an East Hanover Street shooting that sent a 33-year-old man to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officials say video surveillance recorded the shooting, and that investigators called upon Patrol Sgt. Anthony Manzo to help identify the suspects in the video due to his knowledge regarding Trenton’s most violent offenders. “No matter where they put Manzo, he always gets his guy,” a source said. Officials say Hallett was driving a car with Davis as a passenger when they stopped in the 200 block of East Hanover Street to confront the victim, who was targeted in the shooting. When the pair jumped out of the car, officials say, Davis and the victim exchanged words. Davis then pulled out a gun, and the victim ran. Davis chased the victim for a brief period of time, officials say, then shot the man in the middle of the street. Davis and Hallett then jumped back in the car and fled the scene before police arrived. No one else was injured during the shooting, and the motive for the attack remains under investigation. Sources say Manzo was able to identify Davis as the shooter in the surveillance video because of his extensive criminal history. Trentonian archives report that Davis was arrested for strongarm robbery in 2002. Davis was also a victim in a bar shootout in 2004, according to a published report. Escape from Custody: Alto Turner, 23, was picked up in connection with outstanding warrants early Tuesday, and police found him in possession of cocaine and marijuana. Officials say police encountered Turner while investigating a report of family trouble in the 100 block of Monmouth Street. Then later, as cops were escorting him from the patrol vehicle into the headquarters building, Turner escaped from custody and ran while still wearing handcuffs. Police say Turner was caught again after a brief foot chase. Turner is charged with escape, drug possession, resisting arrest and hindering apprehension.
Heroin Bust: Shaquille Johnson, 23, was arrested Monday after police allegedly found him in possession of several decks of heroin. Officials say detectives from the Street Crimes Unit were patrolling Cleveland Avenue when they saw Johnson, who started running upon seeing cops. Believing his behavior to be suspicious, cops chased him and later learned he had several decks of heroin.

Pot Bust: Akim Tamakle, 18, Anthony Skinner, 22, and Christopher Hazel, 23, were arrested for marijuana possession on South Clinton Avenue.
