Robbinsville feels it has the right mix
Robbinsville Little League knows all about winning District 12 softball championships, but the boys of summer are yet to break through on the diamond.
This, however, may be the year the baseball team stakes its claim to a district title.
“We have a good mix right now of speed and power,” manager Brian Patterson said. “Most of these kids have been here since the were seven and we’re happy to have them back.
“Some of these boys play on different travel teams, but when they get here, they all come together.”
Because this is a nineteam bracket, Robbinsville won’t play an opening-night game, instead waiting until Saturday to face the winner of the matchup between Cranbury-Plainsboro and West Windsor.
Whomever it turns out to be, Patterson is confident his team will be ready.
“We have a lot of power on the team right now,” he said. “We’re excited about that.
“If our pitchers can pitch well and we can play our defense, we’ll be all right.”
