William (Bill)

F. Helfrey died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 2, 2017. This was one year to the day that he lost his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary. He was 93 years young. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, where he served in the South Pacific.

Bill was a mechanic by trade and worked for over twenty five years for the Trenton Board of Education, where he also taught Auto-Shop classes at Trenton High School. He was Vice-President of Trenton’s Building and Trade Union before retiring in 1986.

Bill was a proud member of Gothic Fraternal Lodge#270 F. & A.M. where he received the White Apron in 1994. He was also a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite of Trenton, and Tall Cedars of LebanonTre­nton Forest #4 where he served as caretaker of The Tall Cedar Grove in Crosswicks for over 25 years. Bill was also a Past Patron of Bordentown Chapter #257 Order of Eastern Star of New Jersey. He served on the Advisory Board of Trenton Assembly #9, Order of Rainbow for Girls where he was honored with the Grand Cross of Color.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with his family.

Bill was predecease­d by his wife, Mary, brother, Paul, sister-in-law Olga and sister Madeleine. He is survived by his children, son, Bill, daughter-inlaw, Judy Rosen-Helfrey, daughter, Margie Helfrey-Albright, daughter Laura Helfrey-Roberts, son-inlaw, Howard (Skip) Roberts, and daughter, Barbara Helfrey-Hayes; his grand-children, Kathy and Will Speelman, Bill Helfrey, Tina Albright, Jaime and Chuck Reinwald, Jim and Chris Albright, Dawn and Chris Rosell, Rhonda and Jesse Rohloff and Lauran Sikorski. He was also blessed with 13 great-grandchild­ren and two great-great grandsons as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of Masonic brothers, sisters and friends.

Calling hours will be at The Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville Allentown Rd. Yardville, New Jersey 08620 from 9:30 - 11:00 am on Wednesday July 12, 2017. Masonic Services will be held at 11:00 am. Military services will follow at Crosswicks United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ellisdale Road, Crosswicks, NJ.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers and gifts that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
