Brooklawn nips Broad St. Park in district play

LATE SUNDAY DISTRICT 2 BROOKLAWN 7, BROAD ST. PARK 6 EWING » Brien Cardona’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning drew Post 313 within a run before Broad Street Park reloaded the bases with one out.

But Post 72 turned a double play to spoil the come- back, sending BSP into Monday’s losers’ bracket against Point Pleasant Boro at Mercer County Park.

Cardona, Cameron Bruschini and David Zamora ended up driving in two runs apiece for Post 313.

The loss sent Hightstown into a losers’ bracket game against Mercer County American Legion League rival Hopewell Post 339 Monday night at Union Field.

Matt Mankowich knocked in two runs in the first for Post 148, while Alex LoPorto and Dylan Welch had solo runs batted in.
