Robbinsvil­le Amazon to hire hundreds today

ROBBINSVIL­LE » Job seekers may be in luck on Wednesday.

Amazon in Robbinsvil­le is hiring hundreds of employees on the spot on Wednesday morning.

The major online retailer recently announced that it would hire more than 50,000 people at 10 fulfillmen­t facilities as part of its first-ever Amazon Jobs Day on Aug. 2.

The Robbinsvil­le one will occur at 50 New Canton Way beginning at 8 a.m. and run through the morning.

The company says the positions need to be filled ASAP.

There will be a huge white tent in the parking lot on Wednesday morning, with lines of candidates applying for jobs and getting on-the-spot job offers.

With informatio­nal sessions, candidate tours, and an onsite applicatio­n processes, the company is poised to make hundreds of offers, with health benefits, in one day, in Robbinsvil­le.

“We’re excited to be creating great jobs that offer highly-competitiv­e wages, benefits starting on day one and the chance for employees to go back to school through our Career Choice program,” said John Olsen, Vice President of Amazon’s Worldwide Operations Human Resources. “On August 2, we are excited to host interested candidates to come learn more about the technology we utilize in our operations, see our dedicated onsite classrooms, meet employees and, if interested, apply for a job at our site and receive an on-the- spot job offer. These are great opportunit­ies with runway for advancemen­t. In fact, of our entry level managers across Amazon’s U.S. fulfillmen­t centers, nearly 15 percent started in hourly roles and were promoted into their current positions.”

The positions will offer highly-competitiv­e pay, health insurance, disability insurance, retirement savings plans and company stock. The company also offers up to 20 weeks of paid leave and innovative benefits such as Leave Share and Ramp Back, which give new parents flexibilit­y with their growing families. Leave Share lets employees share their Amazon paid leave with their spouse or domestic partner if their spouse’s employer doesn’t offer paid leave. Ramp Back gives new moms additional control over the pace at which they return to work.
