Just Peachy Festival at Terhune Orchards
Aug. 5-6 with Summer Harvest Farm-to-Fork Tasting & Ice Cream Social
Celebrate Jersey Fresh and one of our state’s favorite fruits by joining Terhune Orchards for the annual Just Peachy Festival on August 5 & 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The weekend will be filled with plenty of activities for kids, including a ride through the orchards on our tractor-drawn wagons, a treasure hunt, pony rides, face painting, games and barnyard fun. On Sunday, Aug 5. Schafer’s Sports Center will be here with an interactive tumbling fun area.
Enjoy live music each day noon-4pm. On Saturday, enjoy Borderline performs and on Sunday, tunes from Dixie.
The “Summer Harvest Farm-to-Fork Tasting” features talented local chefs who will serve creative dishes using peaches and produce grown at Terhune Orchards. Participants will vary on both days. Visitors can enjoy this special tasting event on Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 p.m. in our big red barn. The special tasting section is $12 per person. *See restaurant line-up below.
This year we are adding a Just Peachy Ice Cream Social tent. Cool off with one of our refreshing frozen peach slushies and Peaches and Cream ice cream made for Terhune Orchards by Arctic Ice Cream.
Cooking demonstrations and lively discussions will be held on both days at 2 p.m. with two very special guest presenters. You will love the internationally inflected, peach inspiration from these fun and tasty programs.
Saturday: Naomi Mobed, owner of Le Bon Magot -winner of five 2017 Sofi Awards include Best New Product for Spiced Raisin Marmalata with Ras Al Hanout & Smoked Cinnamon.
“Magot” or the hidden treasure specializes in African, Middle Eastern and South Asian inspired condiments and culinary ingredients: caponata, chutney, conserve, marmalata, preserves, tapenade and dressing. The ethos of Le Bon Magot is to create crafted products from heritage recipes using high-quality seasonal produce, customblended aromatics and no preservatives.
Sunday: Katie Parla, author of “Tasting Rome: Fresh Flavors and Forgotten Recipes from an Ancient City” – IACP Award Winner for Best International Cookbook 2017
Katie Parla is a Romebased food and beverage educator and journalist. Originally from New Jersey, she has an art history degree from Yale, a master’s degree in Italian Gastronomic Culture from the Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata,” a sommelier certificate from the Federazione Italiana Sommelier Albergatori Ristoratori, and an archeological speleology certification from the city of Rome.
Pam’s Everything Peachy Food Tent will offer other tasty summer fare such as peach pie, barbecued chicken, hot dogs, homemade gazpacho, salads, and our famous apple cider donuts. Adults can visit the Terhune Orchards Vineyards winery tasting room to sample award-winning red, white and fruit wines, including Just Peachy wine made with Terhune’s own apple cider.
Pam Mount’s popular free canning and freezing class will be held during the festival at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The class is free but advance registration is requested. Please call 609924-2310 or register online : terhuneorchards.com/classsign-up/
Terhune Orchards grows 28 varieties of peaches and nectarines. Baskets overflowing with just-picked fruit are ready to take home from the farm store to eat fresh out of hand or try making a new peach recipe.
Admission to the festival area is $8, ages 3 and up. Admission with Farm to Fork Tasting, $20. Free parking and access to farm store and winery.
