The Thunder rotation just got a whole lot stronger.

The Yankees promoted pitching prospect Dillon Tate from High-A Tampa on Tuesday afternoon.

Tate, the organization’s No. 15 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, went 6-0 with a 2.62 ERA in nine starts for Tampa.

The 23-year-old could make his DoubleA debut on Friday when the Thunder begin a series in Altoona. He last pitched on Sunday, allowing two runs in eight inning against Port St. Lucie.

The Yankees acquired Tate along with Nick Green and Erik Swanson last July in the trade that sent Carlos Beltran to the Rangers.

Texas selected Tate with the fourth overall pick in 2015 out of UC Santa Barbara.

In a corresponding move, left-hander Nestor Cortes was promoted to TripleA. This marked the fifth time this season the 22-year-old Cortes was bumped up to Scranton.

He’s 5-0 with a 2.60 ERA in 18 appearances (seven starts) for the Thunder and 1-2 with an 0.95 ERA in five outings (one start) for the RailRiders.

Aaron Hicks, meanwhile, continued his rehab from a strained oblique with the Thunder on Tuesday night in Hartford. Hicks, 27, played five times for Scranton last week.
