Richard Patrick Norton, 43, formerly of Hamilton Square, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August

6, 2017, at his residence in Wyckoff, NJ.

Born in Trenton, Rich was raised in Hamilton and moved to Hoboken in 2000 before settling in Wyckoff in 2014. He was a diligent and focused student having graduated from St. Gregory the Great Elementary School and Steinert High School, with the Class of 1992 where he was not only an honors student but also co-captain of the football team and member of the golf team. He was a Cum Laude graduate of The College of New Jersey, Class of 1996 earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administra­tion. His freshman year he enjoyed playing football at the college. Rich went on to graduate from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, Class of 1999, where he earned his Juris Doctorate of Law.

During his high school and college career, Rich was very athletic and focused on his academics. In addition, he was instrument­al, along with his brother, Brian, in assisting their parents, Richard and Doris, in founding their business, Eastern Armored Services, Inc.

Rich was currently a Partner with Hartmann, Doherty, Rosa, Berman & Bulbulia in River Edge, where he focused on corporate restructur­ing, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. Before joining the firm as Partner, he acquired 20 years experience in bankruptcy and restructur­ing practices at firms in New York and New Jersey. Aside from his restructur­ing-related work, he has extensive experience counseling clients on a range of business developmen­t and representi­ng clients in commercial disputes.

Over the years, Rich attained many Bar admissions which included, State of New York, State of New Jersey, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, District of New Jersey, United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.

Rich identified proudly with his Irish heritage. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, adventures outdoors, traveling and road trips. He took pride in his property and recently found relaxation and solace in landscapin­g at home.

Above all else Rich loved his family and treasured time with his son, Jake.

Predecease­d by his beloved maternal grandparen­ts, Carl and Ann Carey and his dear paternal grandparen­ts, George and Elvia Norton; Rich is survived by his loving wife, Julia E. Trawniczek Norton of Wyckoff; his son, Jake Richard Norton, of Wyckoff; his parents, J. Richard and Doris M. (Carey) Norton of Hamilton Square; his brother, Brian Daniel Norton of New York, NY; his step-son Christian Raymond of Wyckoff; his aunt and uncle, Carol and Anthony Derrico; many cousins including, Anthony Derrico; and many special friends, including Paul “PJ” Cosgrove and Ed Kopera.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 11, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great R.C. Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Gregory the Great R.C. Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.
