Split Decision: Jeff and L.A. make Super Bowl LII picks

- L.A. Parker Columnist

Are you ready for some football? Yee haw. Heck, no. Not as the National Football League rolls out President Barack Obama hater, Hank Williams, Jr.

NFL owners and Commissioner Roger Goodell resemble a klan of Good Ol Boys with their invitation to allow Williams, Jr. to come back to ESPN football broadcasts.

Williams, in 2012, said that President Barack Obama playing golf with Speaker of the House John Boehner represented a political mistake, equal to “Hitler playing golf with [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu.”

Wonder what Williams might say about President Donald Trump all chummy with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Things that make you say, hmmm. Right?

ESPN returned Williams, Jr. and that leaves the door open for ABC to bring back O.J. Simpson. Can you imagine that? Ok. Don’t imagine that. Williams, Jr. returns along with a refigured policy that allows players to engage in celebrations that involves other players and use the football as a prop.

Players can shake their groove thing but it’s doubtful the league will allow interesting insults like Randy Moss’ infamous fake mooning of Green Bay Packers fans in 2005. Classic.

Or, how about when Seattle Seahawks’ player Doug Baldwin pooped a football in the Super Bowl? Not the best look.

Ezekiel Elliott’s leap into the Salvation Army bucket created an instant classic. The troubled Dallas running back should return from his six-game suspension in time for the Salvation Army Christmas drive.

Don’t know how Packers players can improve the Lambeau Leap. That’s always cool

Anyway, my Minnesota Vikings will deliver a .500 record or worse as immobile quarterback Sam Bradford gets put on the ground or underground while taking snaps behind a porous offensive line.

Preparing for a season overwhelmed by Philadelphia Eagles fans being whipped into a frenzy. Consider this one important observation from last year. If the Eagles win that game in Dallas, their quarterback Carson Wentz receives the positive emotional energy from beating the Boys in Big D.

Instead, Dallas QB Dak Prescott ties the game in regulation and wins in overtime. Essentially, Eagles Coach Doug Pederson’s poor decisions stymied Wentz’ first season as he claimed no signature win.

NFC East should be interesting, especially if Eagles win their opener against Washington.

Who wins the Super Bowl or Big Game? It’s Pittsburgh, New England or Green Bay.

Pittsburgh.
