West Windsor 15s eliminated from World Series

- Staff Report

LAWRENCEBURG, TENN. » The West Windsor-Plainsboro Babe Ruth League 15-year-old all-stars saw their time in the 15-YearOld Babe Ruth World Series cut short Tuesday when Wisconsin came up with six runs in the top of the seventh to rally past the New Jersey champion, 7-3.

The loss knocked West Windsor-Plainsboro out of the 15YO World Series.

Things began well enough for WW-P with a run in the bottom of the third inning when Justin Lockwood singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Christopher Bluni before Luke Potts hit a sacrifice fly following walks to Andrew Santa Maria and Sean Hodges.

After Wisconsin tied the game in the fifth, West Windsor-Plainsboro recaptured the lead in the sixth when Sean Hodges walked, advanced on Potts’ ground out, stole third base and scored on a throwing error.

Then the visitors took control in the top of the seventh.

WW-P tried to retaliate in the bottom of the frame as Bluni singled in Jack Dileo, but Wisconsin turned a double play to end the locals’ World Series run after ending the season by winning 13 of its last 15 games.

14YO WORLD SERIES GLEN ALLEN, VA. » The Hamilton-Northern Burlington 14-Year-Old Babe Ruth all-stars held a 13-6 lead on Midwest Plains in the top of the seventh inning when the game had to be suspended because of rain.

The quarterfinal game will be resumed at noon Wednesday.
