Ernest “The
Big E” Cloward,
76, of Hamilton passed away at home on Tuesday evening surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong Trenton/Hamilton area resident.
Ernest retired from the County of Mercer as a Senior Tree Climber with 35 years of service. He was an avid Harley Rider, loved music, gardening, fishing, being outdoors, and spending time at the beach. He also enjoyed “fixing” things, he was a meticulous craftsman and designed birdhouses and “Whirligigs”with amazing creativity. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends, always known for his kindness, generosity and heartwarming smile.
Son of the late Aaron and Mae Price Cloward, predeceased by his former wife Maryann Cloward, he is survived by his three children, Michael Cloward, Richard Cloward and his wife Kelley, and Lisa Young and her husband Robert; six grandchildren, Michael A. and Justine E. Cloward, Robert A. and Karah B. Young, and Michael and McKenna Rouse; his nephew Vincent Malloy; and faithful companion of many years, Ethel Pointon and his best friend Gary Young.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. from the Buklad Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church. Burial will be private
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the memorial home.
