Giants, Eagles and Jets? Might as well just call the season over already

HOW WILL OUR CLOSEST NFL TEAMS FARE THIS YEAR?

Well, at least the 76ers are going to be exciting to watch this year. Forget about the Nets and Knicks.

Oh yes. If you’re a local sports fan, you may as well look ahead to the NBA season, because the Jets, Giants and Eagles are all going to be also-rans this year.

Let’s start with the Jets: They’re actually trying to be bad, so it will be no surprise when they crash and burn. This is a Sam Hinkie “trust the process” situation, so Jets fans will just have to have hope the braintrust knows what it’s doing. (Spoiler alert: They don’t.)

In the meantime, there is a legit shot for this team to go 0-16. And if you’re a Jets fan, you may as well be rooting for that.

Next up on the hit list, the New York Football Giants. Strong defense, but zero running game, which will allow defenses to follow Odell Beckham Jr. all over the field. Add in the fact Eli Manning is 36 all of a sudden and you have a recipe for a disappointing year. I see 8-8 in their future, with a few breaks going one way or another resulting in a swing of a victory or two.

As for the Eagles? Yeah, I don’t see it. A high energy defense is fine when playing crappy teams, but against good passing teams, they’re going to get toasted. On the offensive side, are we sure Carson Wentz is going to make the leap? Are we? Really?

I see a similar situation to the Giants. Some ups, some downs, somewhere around .500.

But really: How excited are you for the 76ers? Embiid, Fultz, Simmons, Sarkic … this team is a dynasty in the making. I’ll hit that over of 40.5 all day long.
