John J. Spera,

61, of Hamilton passed away suddenly on Monday September

4, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.

Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.

John was a graduate of Hamilton High School West class of 1974, then graduating from William Penn University in Iowa. He worked for the State of NJ, Division of Taxation with over 30 years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, and was an avid golfer. John also enjoyed sports; he played baseball throughout his schooling years including college. He followed all of the Philadelph­ia sports teams, and was an Eagles season ticket holder for many years.

Son of the late Albert D. Spera, uncle of the late Justine Grieb, he is survived by his mother Geraldine Fausti Spera; his two sisters and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Donald Bucchi, and Vickie Spera; three nephews, Ryan Bucchi and wife Jillian, Daniel Bucchi, and Andrew Grieb and his fiancé Angela DiStephano, two nieces, Angela Grieb and her fiancé Chad Smith, and Adrienne Bucchi and her husband Tommy Myers, and two great nieces, Gianna and Bianca Myers; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville with local clergy officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the memorial chapel, and then again Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributi­ons may be made to Res Q Pets, P.O. Box 9182, Hamilton Twp., NJ 08650, or the Hamilton Township Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 2100 Sylvan Avenue, Hamilton, NJ 08610, or an animal charity of the donor’s choice.
