Robbery: Sally Blaine, 44, was arrested last Friday after she tried to rob another woman who refused to give her a cigarette. Officials say the victim was in the 700 block of South Clinton Avenue around 10 p.m. when Blaine asked for a cigarette. When the victim said she didn’t have any cigs, Blaine allegedly replied, “Bitch, I should rob you and take your money.” Police say Blaine then took a fighting stance, but the victim walked away. Blaine then followed the woman, according to officials who say the victim quickly walked into a friend’s house and called the cops. Blaine yelled at the woman from outside the door for a few minutes, but had walked down the street by the time cops arrived. The victim then identified Blaine as the suspect who tried to rob her.

Shooting: An 18-year-old female suffered a gunshot wound to her thigh Monday night during a drive-by shooting in the 100 block of East Ingham Avenue. Police say the vehicle was previously reported stolen out of Lawrence. No arrests have been made at this time.

Police say this is the second time they’ve received complaints about Smith threatening to assault his mother after she refused to give him cash. On August 4, Smith allegedly returned home drunk and high and threatened to stab his mother with a BBQ fork when she refused to give him money. She eventually gave him $20 out of fear for her safety, and Smith fled the home. This past Monday night, officials say, Smith punched his mother after she refused to give him $10. So, police arrested him for assault, terroristic threats and related weapons offenses.

Officials say the group was arrested by detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit who were conducting an operation on Lamberton Street in response to citizen complaints and the recent uptick in violence.
