Helping a little for those who help a lot
Just when moving out of Trenton became a contemplation, Mary Rossi showed up.
Rossi, 25, a special education teacher in the North Brunswick school system but lifetime Trenton resident, looked more like a vision as she appeared in the smokey darkness on Revere Ave. Trenton’s finest had responded to fire inside a duplex in the 1100 block of Revere Ave. just before 8 p.m.
Firefighters had worked hard for 45 minutes when Rossi walked out of her home carrying a case of water.
She handed the water to a man who then delivered Rossi’s gift to firefighters.
“There was so much smoke. They worked so hard and looked exhausted when they came out of the houses. They looked thirsty, so, I brought them water,” Rossi, a Class of 2015 Rider University graduate, said.
Life can be incredibly simple and wonderfully uplifting.
Rossi exemplified citizenship and concern without any expectation of recognition.
As usual, firefighters answered the bell, offering a wonderful distraction from all the drama at Trenton police headquarters.
Thanks Ms. Rossi for a brief restoration of hope for better
times in the capital city.
No doubt your students learn the same ethics instilled in you as a child.
Trenton needs people like you.
