MOUNT HOLLY » Although the Trenton High School football team managed to somewhat limit the damage of Iverson Clement, it also found out the hard way there’s a lot more to Rancocas Valley than the University of Florida-bound running back.

With junior quarterback Bryce Mangene showing great accuracy, Danny Kondras making one big play after another and a defense that allowed nothing, Rancocas Valley crushed Trenton, 38-6, Friday night.

With the victory, fifth-ranked RV improved to 3-0 as it continued to head towards a mega collision with top-ranked Lenape in two weeks. Trenton, meanwhile, dropped its third straight after a victory on opening night.

Trenton didn’t help itself any my making mistakes right from the start. This included throwing a pass that was intercepted by linebacker Joel Anaya and led to RV opening the scoring on a 34-yard pass from Mangene to Alan Watson.

In the early going Trenton held Clement to 21 yards on his first eigth carries, but RV adjusted by opening up its passing game. The result was in the first half Mangene completed 9 of 13 passes for 101 yards before finishing 12-for-15 for 143 in all.

The second quarter featured a 21-point blitz that began with Kondras breaking free and racing 57-yards into the end zone on a running play.

Following a punt, RV then moved 60 yards on six plays as Clement (18 carries, 123 yards) starting bursting loose with runs of 19 and 14 yards.

This led to Kondras scoring his second TD on a 7-yard pass from Mangene.

Late in the second quarter RV scored again when Mangene threw a short flare pass to Clement, who did the race by exploding through the Trenton secondary for a 29-yard TD reception.

The third quarter featured a 27-yard field goal by Kyle Prescavage and a great diving catch by Kondras on the Trenton 33-yard line. RV then scored its final touchdown when Watson pounced on a Clement fumble on the 1 yard line in the end zone.

With a running clock for most of the fourth quarter, Trenton did manage to avoid a shutout when Prince Jones intercepted a pass by RV’s back-up quarterback and returned his pick six 84 yards.

RV’s defense was excellent as Trenton was never able to establish anything in either the running or passing department.
