The problem with politics

-

It is election season, and the false and negative attacks against our Senator Linda Greenstein by her opponent represent everything that is wrong with politics today. Linda has served our community for many years, and throughout her entire tenure in the Legislature, she has always fought for our values and always has our backs. Linda represents the best of politics and consistently champions making people’s lives better.

It is without question that Linda works tirelessly for the people of the 14th Legislative District. Without exception, she is there to show her support and is accessible to her constituents. She is approachable, compassionate, and eager to learn more about issues facing the people she represents. She is thoughtful and caring and actually understands the issues we face. When a constituent calls Linda’s office seeking help, she is quick to respond and offer support.

Out of the forty members of the State Senate, Linda is certainly among the most effective. She serves as Chairwoman of the Law and Public Safety Committee, where she fights to make our communities safer. As Assistant Majority Leader, she actively works with her colleagues to find solutions to our state’s toughest problems.

Linda’s record is worth highlighting. She led the charge to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour, sought more protections for domestic violence victims, fought for stricter gun legislation, championed more investment in our public schools and is leading the effort to bring awareness to the opioid epidemic plaguing our community. She was a leader in the fight for women’s health care.

Throughout the entirety of Governor Christie’s disastrous eight years in the Statehouse, Linda never wavered when dealing with an issue facing her constituents.

When Governor Christie broke his campaign promise to fully fund the pension system, Linda stood up to the Governor, voted against his defective plan and fought for the state to make full payments into the pension system.

While Governor Christie was sitting on the beach after the government shut down in July, Linda was in Trenton working to reopen state government and sponsoring legislation to make sure state workers got paid.

The choice in this election is quite clear. We can either send Linda Greenstein, a leader and a fighter, back to the Senate or elect her opponent, a Christie Clone. I have seen firsthand how devoted Linda is to the people she represents, and just like she’s had our back, it’s time we have hers.
