John Knight Jr. of Florence

John Knight Jr. of Florence, N.J. peacefully departed this life at home on October 17, 2017.

John was born on October 24, 1965 in Trenton and received his education in Trenton as well where he was a basketball standout. He attended St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada and Upsala College in East Orange, NJ.

A longtime resident of Miramar, Florida, John recently relocated to Florence, NJ. He worked exclusively in the hospitality industry as a Master Chef for VIP clients like The Miami Dolphins Football organization, The Marriott Corporation and Great Performances Catering in New York City.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife Michelle Marie Hoilett-Knight; his father John Knight Sr.; step-father John Couch; grandfathers: Sonny Emmons, James Taliaferro and Lloyd Williams; grandmothers: Ruby Knight and Margaret Taliaferro, and brother, Otis Jones.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother: Phylis Couch; children: Davohn, Paige, Olivia, and Jared; grandchildren: Adanya, Davohn Jr. and Savannah; sisters: LaVonia Brown (Reginald) and Shielynn Sapp (Ronald); brothers: Donnell, Darryl and Keith, step-sisters: DeeAnn Couch and Robin Case, and a stepbrother: John Couch. Aunts: Jacqueline Patterson (Charles), Mary Williams, Olga Taliaferro, Cheryl Taliaferro-Herd (Dennis); uncle: James Taliaferro. Several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends - including Sam Ball and Kendall Dean.

Funeral service will be 11am Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church 1130 Lower Ferry Road Ewing, NJ. Calling hours will be 9am until time of service at the church. Interment will follow at the Ewing Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
