A disgrace to the arena

-

I think our wonderful Trenton jewel, Sun/CURE Arena, disgraced itself by hosting two circus shows last Friday. Does the Sun know how badly Garden Brothers treats their animals, none of whom volunteered for the job? Training for these magnificent creatures includes cruel beatings, that are well documented as well as the use of electric prods and bullhooks, one whistle blower stated that these animals are often left bleeding from the constant abuse… A look at the Garden Brothers schedule on their website, reveals that they truck the animals from townto-town daily with few breaks. Following the October 20th shows in Trenton, they perform 10 cities in 10 days, with no break. The 30 days from October 20 to November 19 will take them to 26 cities throughout the South, where they will put on a total of 62 shows, getting a total of 3 days off. Some days they will perform 4 shows. No human worker in the U.S.A. can legally be treated this way, and the Garden Brothers clearly do not care about the welfare of their captive animals.

I would urge the Sun/CURE area to be more judicious in their future bookings and certainly not provide CRUELITY as Entertainment… This public venue has a responsibility to our community and must be held accountable for the entertainment they provide…. it is also up to the patrons who attend such “entertainment” to make themselves aware of the inhumanity that goes into these performances and to boycott this and all circuses where animals are treated cruelly… this should not be ENTERTAINMENT!
