LAWRENCEVILLE » It was easy to spot the biggest reason the Bishop Eustace girls soccer team was able to beat Notre Dame, 3-2, Thursday afternoon.

The Camden County team had Sara Be idle man on its side and Notre Dame did not.

An outstanding junior who has already committed to Villa nova University, Be idle man assisted on her team’s first goal and then scored two beauties herself as Bishop Eustace advanced in the Non-Public A South bracket.

In addition to the fact both teams came into the game with identical 124-2 records, they were pretty much even on the field with both getting off 10 shots towards goal.

As such, it was all about converting and while Notre Dame did score twice in the second half to tie the score both times, in the end it had no answer for Beidleman.

“She’s something special,” agreed Eustace coach Erica Schubert after Beidleman upped her goal total on the year to 19. “She’s phenomenal.”

After Notre Dam just missed on several excellent opportunities in the early going, Eustace opened the scoring with 5:56 remaining in the half. The goal came off a perfect cross from Be idle man to Sammie Sorensen, who simply had to direct the ball into the net with her right foot.

Much like it had in the first half, Notre Dame again came out strong following the restart. The result was itwas able to tie the game on a great shot by Taylor Whitlock, who beat the Eustace goa lie with a well-placed shot high in the far corner of the net.

Itwas herewere Beidleman really started taking over by putting her team back ahead with a goal midway through the second half.

Notre Dame again drew even when Abbey B arc less score donas hot from point blank with 13:32 remaining, but this only led to the game-winner by Be idle man with 5:66 togo.

Both of Be idle man’ s goals were remarkably similar. First creating space for herself by attacking down the left wing, Beidleman then stopped once she got into the box.

From there, she calmly cut back towards the center of the box and unleashed perfectly aimed shots with her right foot into the far corner of the net that gave ND freshman keeper Nicole Rende no chance.

If it was any consolation to Notre Dame, it took two goal sofa very high quality to end the Irish’s season.

“Notre Dame is a great teamthat plays with a lot of passion,” said Schubert. “We always have great games with them. Today we were able pull through.”
