Huge outpouring for one of Trenton’s own after highway tragedy
Hundreds of motorcycles parked on a main city street yesterday morning as friends and relatives filled Friendship Baptist Church to remember Jabbar “Buckshot” Manning.
Perry St. resembled a motorcycle sales lot as motorcyclists honored their fallen brother, a long time member of Trenton’s famous Cycle Kings Motorcycle Club.
“There’s not a seat left inside the church. It’s packed to remember Buckshot,” said A.J., a Cycle Kings member.
Manning, 43, passed away last Sunday after his motorcycle struck a deer. New Jersey State Police reported that the collision threw Manning off his bike and into a Honda Sedan.
The accident occurred at about 1:38 a.m. in the southbound side of the Turnpike near mile marker 80 in New Brunswick Township. Reports noted that the left and center lanes were closed while police investigated the crash.
Manning graduated from Trenton Central High School and later attended Morris College, Sumter, S.C.
A Trentonian obituary noted Manning is survived by his wife, Nicole McCallum-Manning; two sons, JahQuan and NiJay Manning; mother, Jessie Robinson (Curtis); grandmother, Bertha Manning; childhood father figure, Douglas Campbell, Jr.; sister, Hasana Campbell; father-in-law, William McCallum (Mildred) and a host of other beloved relatives and friends, including his Cycle King family.
Cyclists from the tri-state area appeared for Manning’s going home service
“We’re going to ride Buckshot to the Ewing Cemetery then celebrate his life at our clubhouse,” A.J. said.
