Allentown faces Ocean City for spot in state final
After the euphoria of an historic Central Jersey Group III sectional title settled down, the Allentown High girls soccer team got back to work knowing it is two wins away from a state championship.
The Redbirds (20-1) are back in action on Tuesday night when they face South Jersey champ Ocean City (19-3-1) at Toms River North in one of two Group III semifinal games.
Defending state cochamp Northern Highlands (20-0-1) squares off with Middletown South (13-5-5) at Livingston High on the other side of the bracket.
Both games are slated to kick off at 5 p.m.
Here’s what to watch for: Allentown coach Kim Maurer has guided her side to 20 wins and a Central Jersey Group III title.

Goalkeeper Abby Howell (13 shutouts) has come up with some clutch saves this season, while senior defenders Marin Hartshorn and Kassidy Mulryne and Carly Roche (12 goals, 13 assists) have all been key contributors to this run.
