EWING » Police have made four arrests in connection with last month’s murder of Ewing rap artist Devon “Savy G” Green.

Kyree Hill, 18, of Trenton, was arrested Monday night and charged with murder, robbery and weapons offenses, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday.

Three other co-defendants have also been charged in connection with the homicide: Damonte Smith, 20, of Ewing; Voshon McCray, 20, of Ewing; and Coson Taylor, 19, of Trenton. Those three were charged over the last few days and are in police custody, according to prosecutors, who said those three are facing robbery and weapons offenses less serious than the murder charges that Hill has been slapped with.

Hill was arrested Monday night in Trenton as the final defendant in the homicide case, and he is the only defendant to be charged with murder in the case, according to the prosecutor’s office. The state will seek to keep Hill locked up without bail on pretrial detention.

Green died during the early morning hours of Oct. 19 after being gunned down in the carport of his Lanning Street home in Ewing. He was 23.

Prosecutors last month said Green and a friend were sitting outside in the carport when two unknown males walked up the driveway and opened fire. Hill is being charged as one of the alleged triggermen.

Green suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Green, a graduate of Ewing High School, was honored in 2012 for a business idea he conceived while just a teen and won $250 for the concept.

“Out of the hundreds of entries received from our region, I am proud that Devon was selected for his Teen Alliance Group business idea,” Joanne Ludwig is quoted as saying in a Ewing Public Schools newsletter. “I am very proud of all of my (International Business Practice Firm) students who submitted entries.”

In more recent years, Green gained local notoriety as a rap artist known as Savy G. He was a member of a rap collective from Mercer County called Habitat Music.

Green also had a prolific following on social media. He was known as General Savy G to hundreds of thousands of people who follow a local Snapchat group.

“He will be missed by many people that he allowed to have a peek into his life,” one of his friends who asked to remain anonymous said.
