GIANT FACTS: The Giants designated a league-high six players to injured reserve this week, including All-Pro cornerback Janoris Jenkins . ... The Giants’ defense has made more big plays in recent weeks. The unit is tied for second in interceptions (five) since Week 10 and fourth in sacks (seven) since Week 11 . ... Geno Smith, who will be making his first start with the team, threw 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions in 30 starts with the Jets from 2013-16.

The Prediction: Welcome to the post-Eli Manning era. The Giants are 2-0 against the AFC West this season, and anything is possible in this wonky season that gets weirder by the week. Maybe Geno Smith is able maneuver around the Giants’ weak offensive line with his mobility and have a surprisingly solid debut. Sterling Shepard is back this week, and that’s certainly a boost to the receiving corps. The best the Giants can hope for is another sloppy, low-scoring game as their defense takes advantage of Oakland’s banged-up receiving game. But the Raiders will prevail at home to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. RAIDERS 20, GIANTS 13.
