The Trentonian (Trenton, NJ)

ALLENTOWN

-

Coach: Mitch Nock.

Last year: (15-9), Central Jersey Group IV qualifier, No. 10 ranking in the area. 106⁄113-Kolin O’Grady (So.), Sebastiano Nini (Fr.), Joey Lamparelli (So.) 120-Kevin Marks (Jr.) 120⁄126-Jose Martinez (So.), Gino Giocolona (So.)

126-Jacob Calderon (So.) 132⁄138-Gioacchino Aprile (Sr.), Nick Golden (So.)

138⁄145-Isaiah Saiz (Sr.)

145-Drew Romein (Jr.) 152⁄160-Anthony Heinz (Sr.), Nolan Pecci (Sr.)

160-Paskal Miga (So.)

170-Liam McDermott (Sr.) 170⁄182-Jared Carpenito (So.), Sam Togna (Sr.)

182-Nicholas Campbell (Jr.), Ryan Meyers (Fr.)

195-John Kuchar (Jr.) 220-Cameron Capone (Sr.) Hvy-Parker Flanagan (Sr.), Harrison Hill (Jr.)

Strengths: There a lot of them. Starting in the lower weights, Lamparelli was 38-4 as a freshman. He was an MCT and district champion, and third at regions. Golden was 19-11 and Giocolono was 18-14. The middle is solid with the return of Saiz (16-9), Romein (21-11), Heinz and Pecci (19-15). McDermott is among the best in the CVC. He was 30-5 last year, an MCT champion, second at districts and advanced to states. Togna and Hill each won 15 bouts. Throw in Kuchar (18-12) and it means the Redbirds are no longer vulnerable up top. To top if off, there are some good looking newcomers to the lineup.

Outlook: Allentown enters the year as the favorite to win all of its CVC matches and could very well be headed to its first MCT title. The Redbirds also have the depth and firepower to compete against some quality teams from outside the county.
