Violence Erupts: Police are in the early stages of investigating whether a shooting and stabbing which happened minutes apart from each other Wednesday are connected. Trenton Police spokesman Lt. Stephen Varn had few details about the violent eruptions, which happened within a five-minute span, in what sources contend was close proximity to each other. An older man showed up to Capital Health Medical Regional Center with a stab wound. Cops don’t know where it happened, Varn said. The man, who is believed to be in his early 40s, was listed in stable condition at the hospital. The shooting happened at 2:17 p.m., five minutes before the stabbing was reported to police. It happened on the 300 block of West State Street. Varn said initial reports were that someone took aim at a young boy. The boy, whose age is unknown, jumped in the Delaware and Raritan Canal to avoid being bathed in bullets, according to sources. It was too early to tell whether police recovered any shell casings or bullets, Varn said. The boy was taken by “private means” to Capital Health Medical Regional Center. It’s unknown whether he was struck by gunfire, or if he suffered hypothermia from plunging into the freezing water. His condition was unknown as police continue to probe both incidents. “We don’t know if they’re connected,” Varn said. “The notes in the CAD [computer aided dispatch] are saying they’re separate incidents, but we don’t know where the stabbing occurred at this time.”

Drugs: Malik Bingham, 19, was found with crack cocaine and arrested by members of the Street Crimes Unit who responded to a report of a suspicious person. Bingham tried to discard the drugs before detectives got to him. Cops found three grams of crack cocaine.

Wanted: Rodney Glenn, 24, was arrested on a warrant that charged him with beating up his girlfriend. He was wanted for the Sept. 20 domestic incident. His girlfriend at the time said he grabbed her by the arm, threw her down and ran off before cops got there. He was on the lam until police picked him up this week.

Wanted Too: Rayshawn Marshall, 35, was wanted for an assault that happened June 22, on the 900 block of Edgewood Avenue. The victim told cops her exboyfriend Marshall broke into her home, gaining entrance through the fire escape window. He roughed her up, throwing her down a flight of stairs. She ran away and called police.

Montgomery

Drugs and Driving: Ryan McMahon, 18, of Monmouth Junction, and Molly Mallet, 19, of Kendall Park, were arrested after police found marijuana, paraphernalia and open alcoholic beverages during a traffic stop on Route 206 for not wearing seatbelts. During the stop, police smelled marijuana, prompting a search.

Wanted: M. Severino, 47, of Wurtsboro, New York, was arrested in connection with outstanding warrants following a suspicious vehicle investigation on Reading Boulevard.

Middlesex

Vehicular Homicide: Off-duty cop Romulo Meneses-Alvarez, 30, of Elizabeth, was rung up on charges related to a fatal car crash on Halloween. He was charged with vehicular homicide for driving under the influence and hitting 29-year-old Jairo Lozano, also of Elizabeth. Lozano was on a motorcycle when he was struck by the off-duty Elizabeth Police officer. Lozano was taken to Trinitas Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Alvarez also faces citations for DUI, careless driving and failing to yield to the right of way. An investigation showed that Alvarez was drunk behind the wheel of his 2007 Jeep Wrangler, heading south on Elmora Avenue, near Carteret Park, when he collided with the victim’s GSX Suzuki motorcycle near Vine Street. The police chief, John Brennan, told NJ.com that Alvarez’s employment status is under review. “We haven’t gotten that far yet,” he said. Alvarez joined Elizabeth Police in 2015, earning a salary of $57,779, state pension records show.
