TRENTON » Ain’t nothing to Bragg about.

Trentonian John Bragg, 53, got hit by a grand jury with a 15-count indictment that includes charges of attempted murder for trying to stab an ex-girlfriend to death at an apartment in October.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement Tuesday that charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, child endangerment and weapons offenses were leveled against Bragg following the violent fray at Kingsbury Square East.

The case was presented to the grand jury by Assistant Prosecutor Mary Sparkman.

The city man, who remains locked up at the county jail, argued with the victim after she refused his attempts to regain her affection. He told her, “Today is the day you die. This is your kill day,” stabbing her repeatedly all over her body after she spurned his advances, investigators said.

Bragg locked the victim’s 3-year-old son and another 29-year-old man in the bathroom but the man escaped and clubbed Bragg with a toilet tank cover.

Bragg unleashed his fury on the man, stabbing him several times, prosecutors said.

A neighbor who heard screams for help and glass breaking inside the apartment called police around 3:30 a.m. Police kicked open the door and arrested Bragg.

The victims were transported to the hospital for treatment. The woman had lacerations to her head, lower torso, hand and back and underwent emergency surgery. The man had lacerations to his arms, neck and hand and was treated and released.

The child was unharmed.
