Stavrou, Hightstown sweep squad meet at Steinert
The Hightstown High wrestling got to greatly enjoy the holiday weekend in a quad meet Saturday, including a 3628 victory over host Steinert.
Alex Stavrou proved to be a hero for Hightstown when he pinned in the first period to win the match in the last bout at 145 pounds. Kether Thornton came up big two bouts before with a 10-8 win over Steinert’s Dan Conte at 132 pounds.
Hightstown also beat Free- hold Boro and Lakewood.
In other action, Hopewell lost its first match of the year when it fell to Cranford, 3722. The Bulldogs lost several close decisions in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
