Princeton finishes West Coast trip 4-1

HONOLULU » Devin Cannady started a new scoring streak and Princeton capped off its west coast trip by winning four of its five games.

Cannady netted a season-high 28 points and the Tigers finished fifth at the Diamond Head Classic with a 77-63 victory over host Hawaii on Monday afternoon.

Cannady had his streak of 12 straight games in double figures to start the season snapped when he only contribute­d six points in Princeton’s win over Akron, but the junior guard bounced back with 26 of his 28 in the second half.

Cannady was 7-for-13 from the field and 12-of-16 from the free throw line.

Amir Bell added 11 points and Jerome Desrosiers had 10 off the bench for the Tigers (7-7). Princeton has won five of its last six to pull even at .500 following a 2-6 start.

The Tigers logged over 10,000 miles on this 12-day trip and have off until the Ivy League campaign begins on Jan. 5 at the Palestra against Penn.

Michael Thomas scored 22 points for the Rainbow Warriors (8-4).

The game was tied at 31-all at halftime, but Myles Stephens, who only had six points, scored on a pair of layups to spark Princeton on a 17-5 run to go up by 12.
