Woman admits to dropping bag with $100K of heroin by school
BENSALEM,PA.» The owner of a backpack containing $100,000 worth of heroin allegedly admitted to leaving the bag outside of her vehicle behind a township school last month.
Natasha Willis, 26, told investigators she accidentally left the bag outside her vehicle behind Cecelia Snyder Middle School on December 20, according to officials who say the backpack contained 10,000 decks of heroin.
Officials say Bensalem School District employees found the backpack in the rear parking lot of the middle school around 9:30 a.m.
School personnel then notified police, who say the heroin was already packaged for sale with an estimated street value of
$100,000.
“This was a fortunate find for police and school district officials as it prevented this heroin from being available on the streets,” Bensalem Police Deputy Director of Public Safety William McVey said in a written statement.
After finding the dope, narcotics officers worked to identify the source of the heroin and reviewed surveillance video that showed a tan Toyota Corolla with New Jersey registration parked in the area where the bag of heroin was found. Further investigation led investigators to stop that vehicle around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday night.
“This traffic stop, combined with previous investigative efforts, directly led to the identity and arrest of Willis,” the press release said. “Willis admitted to possessing and accidently placing the bag outside of her vehicle behind the school.”
Willis is charged with several drug possession and distribution offenses. Bail was set at $750,000.
Officials say the heroin was not intended for the school, and that students were never in danger due to the quick action of school personnel and police.
